What is GIST surgery?

Local wide excision: If the GIST is small, we remove it along with a small amount of the surrounding tissue. Partial gastrectomy: During this surgery, we remove part of your stomach. Partial intestine resection: Surgeons can remove GISTs located in the intestine (bowel) by removing part of the intestine.

What is GIST full-thickness resection?

Endoscopic full-thickness resection, or EFTR, is a minimally invasive procedure to remove benign or cancerous tumors from the gastrointestinal tract using an endoscope, a flexible, tube-like instrument. “Full thickness” refers to how much of the gastrointestinal wall is removed.
