The surgeon then rejoins the remaining intestine, bile duct, and pancreas. Few patients may be candidates for the laparoscopic minimally invasive Whipple method, which is only performed by highly competent GI Surgeons and requires a series of small incisions rather than the larger single incision required for open surgery.
